It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing away of Brian Percival at Hospice Renfrew on Thursday December 4, 2014. Brian was born on August 26, 1937 in Pembroke Ontario. Beloved husband of Jean Sharples (married for 56 years), wonderful father to daughters, Laurie Rennie (Rand), Joanne Stanzel (Bob), Barbara Leitch (Randy), Grandfather “Poppa” to Ryan Stanzel (Tatiana), Rachelle Ladouceur (Kevin), Briana Martineau (Josh), Marc Rennie, Brandon Stanzel, Micheal Rennie, Tyson Leitch, Cole Leitch, and Great-Grandfather to Ariya and Jaxon Ladouceur. Pre-deceased by his parents Gertrude and Nelson Percival, and sisters Evangeline Kearney and Dwyla Warren.
Brian and Jean Percival moved to Renfrew in 1963 where they raised a loving, close-knit family. Brian was well known for his dedication and passion as a History teacher for thirty-four years. For twenty- nine of those years, he taught at Renfrew Collegiate Institute. Brian was also well known in the Community for his love for biking throughout the streets of Renfrew. From 1974 until 2014, Brian had logged 141,700 miles.
Brian will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
There will be a Memorial Service on Sunday December 14, 2014 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. It will be held at the Best Western Renfrew Inn at 760 Gibbons Road, Renfrew. Everyone is welcome. Afterwards, there will be a visitation and refreshments with the family from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. All are welcome.
If anyone wishes, donations may be made to the Cancer Society or to Hospice Renfrew, whose caring staff and many volunteers were greatly appreciated by Brian, Jean and the family. Special thanks to Doctor Pinard whose excellent care and attention brought comfort and peace to all of us. Also, a very special thank you to Dr. Kemp and his nurse/ receptionist, Joanne, for all of their wonderful care, assistance and kindness over the years.
